The Challenge

Dependbuild has built a Software as a Service platform that automates the analysis of risks that local governments face during their physical infrastructure development projects. Dependbuild performs strategic risk analyses by asking such questions as, “do they have the right HR policies in place, has a job site assessment been conducted, have supply chain risks been considered, is the project alignment with their strategic plan?” Their platform then analyzes this alongside project information and organizational information and generates recommendations to mitigate or accept risks. They fine-tune the language model built for each client based on the regulatory environment and provincial information and by applying the best practices that they have curated. They have clients across North America and are based in Bathurst, NB.

Dependbuild’s platform faced challenges with lengthy, complex workflows and questionnaires that were difficult for users to navigate, especially those with limited digital experience.

The Solution

不良研究所Researcher Samridhi Pargal addressed these challenges by reviewing and redesigning the project creation and assessment workflows. Her solution included categorizing questionnaires into project phases, adding progress indicators, integrating tooltips for clarity, and enabling “I don’t know” responses to be revisited later. She also refined the Figma design templates to reflect these improvements and recommended features such as manual file tag adjustments and grouping questions by category. These updates aimed to simplify the user experience while enabling the platform to handle more granular project data and support future geospatial data integration.

Project Funder

不良研究所received funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), which enabled Dependbuild to access research and innovation support from NBCC.

“Working with the 不良研究所research team was a great experience. Their expertise and collaborative approach were instrumental in advancing our project goals. They brought both technical insight and practical support, helping us move forward with confidence. I would highly recommend their services to any organization looking to innovate and grow.”
