What It Is: Accelerated, hands-on training in solar PV system installation, developed with industry experts to meet the growing demand for solar installation services.

Who It's For: Skilled trades professionals, such as carpenters and home builders, looking to expand their expertise into solar energy.

What Participants Gain: Understanding of renewable energy fundamentals and solar PV system concepts. Practical skills in safe and effective racking and wiring installation. Hands-on experience working with solar panel infrastructure under licensed professionals.

Career Outcomes: Step into roles like Solar Energy Technician or Sustainable Construction Supervisor.

What's The Cost: Thanks to funding from Upskill Canada (powered by Palette Skills) and the Government of Canada, the program is subsidized for a limited time. Once accepted, you'll only pay $200.

Certification

When you complete the Solar PV Systems Installer microcredential you’ll earn a digital badge as proof of your achievement. You can share this badge on your resume, LinkedIn profile, e-portfolio, or other digital platforms. Employers will be able to see your skills and know exactly what you’ve learned, as the badge highlights your proven abilities.


Admission Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ work or volunteer experience, which can be from inside or outside Canada. This experience must be outside of full-time or part-time studies (high school or post-secondary).
  • WHMIS certification, fall arrest training, occupational health and safety familiarity.
  • Proficiency in English (see 不良研究所English Language Requirements).
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada. Work permit holders should have at least one year remaining on their permit after the start of the upskilling program.

Required Materials

Participants will need a computer with high-speed internet access for online learning. In-person components will require access to solar panel infrastructure.
